About Brian Heydon

There are so many reasons to seek therapy – grief, anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, and help with relationships are among the most common. Maybe you just feel stuck. No matter what your reason, ultimately what you’re wanting is to feel better and to live your best life. As a licensed professional counselor (LPC), my goal is to help you to find and embrace your path to understanding, hope and healing. If the thought of confiding in a therapist or counselor scares you, that’s normal. It can be scary to reach out for help. You may fear that you’ll be judged or think that the goal of counseling is to identify what is “wrong” with you. Aren’t you tired of being afraid?

My approach is different. I won’t view you in terms of pathology, or simply look for a diagnosis to explain your struggles. I believe that labeling people in this way minimizes them and does them a disservice. The truth is we are all wounded and struggling in some way or another. Most of us are doing our best to maneuver through our lives and relate to others, but we are often burdened by trauma or unresolved pain from our past. Perhaps your past is holding you back or maybe you want to learn how to process and respond to people and situations in a healthier manner. You deserve to be heard and validated, and to have a plan of action for improving your life.

You are capable of making the transformation from wounded and suffering to whole and empowered. What if your pain is actually healing trying to happen? You can turn your conflicts into deeper connections with those around you. Go ahead and embrace the idea that it’s time to feel better.
